Volunteer opportunities are available in all program areas. There are currently over 800 active volunteers at SFBFS participating in a myriad of of activities including mentoring, teaching, sorting and hanging clothing, filling and distributing grocery bags, preparing and distributing Sunday lunches, and participating in a parent-coop child services environment. Volunteers also work as receptionists, file clerks, and bulk mail sorters, truck drivers, counselors, event coordinators, data recorders, inventory controllers, security controllers, mechanics, construction specialists, legal advisors, real estate brokers, community outreach emissaries, and warehouse workers.
Volunteers are offered activities that include direct interaction with our clients if they so desire. There are also opportunities that are detached from the public interaction. Whatever the volunteer is searching for, every effort is made to place individuals into areas where they are comfortable and are able to receive personal fulfillment in knowing they have helped make a difference in the life of someone who needs a little extra care.
