Orientation OverviewAttending volunteer orientation is a prerequisite to volunteering at Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services. If you wish to volunteer in any program, including mobile distributions of Food Assistance, please join us for an upcoming volunteer orientation. Volunteer orientation lasts approximately 1 hour and will cover volunteer policies and procedures, safety information, volunteer openings, program descriptions, as well as the history and background about SFBFS. It’s a great way for our potential volunteers to see If SFBFS is a good fit for them. During orientation, you will tour the facility and choose the program you are most interested in. Following orientation, the program manager will contact you for a brief interview. We will do our best to assign volunteers to their number one program of choice, however, placement in a volunteer position is not guaranteed, as there are not always openings for all volunteer positions. Volunteer orientations are offered 4-6 times per month at both of our facilities. You may attend orientation at either the Oak Park or North Sacramento facilities and then volunteer at a different facility or at a mobile distribution. Click here to see volunteer orientation dates. If you would like to bring a group to volunteer at SFBFS, you will attend an orientation on the day your group volunteers. Click here for more information on group volunteering. |
