Host a Donation Drive
You can support Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services by hosting a donation drive. All types of items are in great need year-round.
Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services can provide you with collection barrels as well as delivery and pick up service for donation drives over 100 pounds.
Each of our 55 gallon durable blue plastic barrels are 38” tall and 24” diameter, labeled with specific drive posters, take up about as much room as two people standing together and can hold up to 300 pounds of canned goods. We welcome the personalization of the barrels through non-permanent decorations. We also have Lucite collection boxes for monetary contributions. We have nine different programs and services, so our needs run the gamut from baby items to clothing and food. Several wish lists are available to help you focus your drive. A variety of wish lists, organized by program, are listed below. Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services can deliver all of your containers to one location, or to various sites of your choice. We typically deliver/pick up collection containers weekdays during our normal business hours (7:30 am to 4:00 pm), however other times may be accommodated. Please note that pickup and delivery service is limited during the holiday season.
Some of our supporters have drives as short as one day or even a few hours for special events. Some choose a limited duration to host collection containers, such as two weeks or a couple months. Still others maintain one barrel or cash box at their location on an ongoing basis. Also, there’s no need to let containers overflow while waiting for a pick up. We can swap out full barrels or cash boxes for empty containers anytime during your drive. Join the 18th annual Spirit of Giving Drive Over the last seventeen years, the Spirit of Giving (SOG) drive has helped our organization collect and distribute over 4.6 million pounds of canned and non-perishable food items for local families in need. Help us support families in need by participating in this year's drive. Food and clothing are vital to help strengthen families and give people a hand up during hard times. The SOG drive plays a key role in our ability to provide emergency groceries and warm clothing to families during the holiday season and well into the new year. This year we are excited to announce the launch of the SOG virtual food drive! In addition, we're challenging participants to donate at least 20 hours of volunteer time!
