Host a Donation Drive
You can support Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services (SFBFS) by hosting a donation drive. All types of items are in great need year-round.
Does SFBFS have drives I can join?
Yes! Take some of the decision work out when you join one of our major donation drives. See our 2013 Donation Drive Schedule for information about major drives that support our programs. Look below for materials and sign up forms for this season's drives.

How do I collect donations for SFBFS?
Use your own boxes or containers, or request some of SFBFS' blue donation barrels. Each of our 55-gallon durable plastic barrels are 38” tall and 24” diameter, take up as much room as two people standing together and can hold up to 350 pounds. SFBFS provides drive-specific labels and welcome the personalization of the barrels through non-permanent decorations. SFBFS can also provide countertop collection boxes for monetary contributions. Our friendly drivers can deliver and pick up collection containers to your location, or you can pick up and deliver barrels from our drive-up donations drop-off area during business hours. SFBFS can deliver all of your containers to one location, or to various sites of your choice. We typically deliver/pick up collection containers weekdays during our normal business hours (7:30 am to 4:00 pm). Please note that pickup and delivery service is limited during the holiday season
How do the donations get to SFBFS?
Pick up service is available for donation drives that collect over 600 pounds of food or other donations (approximately two barrels full). We typically pick up donations weekdays during our normal business hours (7:30 am to 4:00 pm). Please note that pickup and delivery service is limited during the holiday season. Minimum one week notice required for pickup (two weeks during the holiday season). You can also drop off your collected goods at SFBFS’ drive-up donations drop-off area during business hours.
How long should a donation
Some of our supporters have drives as short as one day or even a few hours for special events. Some choose a limited duration to host collection containers, such as two weeks or a few months. Still others maintain one barrel or cash box at their location on an ongoing basis. The duration of each drive is completely up to the host. For locations hosting drives two weeks or longer, SFBFS can swap out full barrels or cash boxes for empty containers anytime during your drive.
What does SFBFS need?
A variety of items are needed to support SFBFS' programs. Check out the following wish lists for your next drive.
