The Computer Clubhouse was established in 2000 through a partnership with Intel, the Museum of Science in Boston and the MIT Media Laboratory. The Intel Computer Clubhouse at SFBFS is part of a network of over one hundred similar clubhouses around the world, three of which serve different populations in the Sacramento area. The goal of the program is to give “at-risk” inner-city youth a creative, fun, safe, and goal oriented after school environment where they can explore their horizons through the use of technology. The children receive quality mentorship and are given access to resources, skills, and experiences that will help shape their future. In addition to advanced technology and sophisticated software, other important components of the program consist of homework help, team building skills, focus sessions, and the importance of succeeding in school and life.

The Computer Clubhouse at SFBFS serves over twenty “at-risk” youth between the ages of 8-18 years old from the local Oak Park Neighborhood of Sacramento. These students are given a healthy avenue for expression and constructive learning through various animation, sound/editing, gaming, and photo/video programs. Together, with the guidance and support of qualified mentors, youth are given a chance to learn and thrive.
